Health Benefits of Tea
At
The Tea Garden, our goal is to provide a
healthy alternative to caffeine-loaded coffee drinks or sugary
carbonated soft drinks. Tea has been shown to reduce
the risks for cancer, stroke and cardiovascular disease, improve
blood flow to the brain, help
fight infections, and boost the metabolism.
At the Tea Garden, we brew fresh teas throughout the day and use only real fruit concentrates, not flavored syrups. Even our fruit powders derive from real fruits such as coconut and papaya; varieties which are not shelf-stable in concentrate form.
Our two basic house teas used in most fruit teas and tea lattes are jasmine green tea and black tea, imported from Taiwan. These teas are special blends of the highest quality. You can order them hot or iced daily at The Tea Garden. In addition, any of our varieties of in-house loose leaf teas can also be iced and made into a delicious bubble tea. (They can also have creamer and honey added to be made into a hot or iced tea latte.)
Our most popular drink, royal tea, is made with a special blend of black and red teas, mixed with non-dairy creamer and sweetened with brown sugar. Our lattes and shakes are made with lactose-free non-dairy creamer, low in calories, carbs, and trans-fat.

For our vegan customers Our jellies are made of either carrageenan or agar-agar (seaweed-based), and are also vegan-friendly. Our non-dairy creamer, however, is not vegan-friendly, and therefore can be substituted with soy creamer in most drinks. Our most popular drink, royal tea, is made with a special blend of black and red teas, sweetened with brown sugar, and is pre-mixed with non-dairy creamer, so that cannot be substituted. |
For our diabetic customers:

Coffee

Tastes Bitter |
No Jitters

Why should we AVOID the caffeine in coffee? (1) Coffee caffeine is vasoconstrictive, which squeezes the blood vessels, and reduces blood flow to the muscles and the brain. (2) And, while it constricts, it also stimulates the nervous system. This conflict makes us tense and jittery. (3) It also decreases blood flow to the brain (UH-OH!), which suffocates our creativity. (4) Coffee also contains chlorogenic acids, trigonelline, quinic acid, and furfuryl alcohol, all of which makes coffee taste BITTER. |
Why is Tea so GREAT? (1) Tea contains theophylline. Theophylline is a cardiac stimulant, smooth muscle relaxant, and a vasodilator. (A WHAT?) This improves blood flow to the brain, making us more alert than coffee and for longer (and without the jitters). (2) Improved blood-flow to the brain energizes our creativity. (3) Tea also contains polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants that help the body defend against oxidative stress. WOW! This reduces our risk for cancer, helps us fight infections, and helps our skin stay smooth and beautiful. |
